And now… the Permanent Residents
After being examined by our vet, and assessed by our trainer, it’s been determined that these sweet horses are not suitable for adoption. Instead, they will live out their lives being lovingly cared for by our staff. These horses are in need of sponsors to help with the cost of their medical care. Here are their stories.
MAKE MINE A LATTE…
With extra cream, please!
Looks like the extra cream landed on her rump! We think that adds to her charm.
Latte is a sanctuary resident at HAV Horse Rescue. Her front feet have laminitis that we treat with pads and shoes. Latte is on a special feeding and training program to keep her feeling her best. She is very friendly, loves attention and treats. The extra cream on top for us? A donation or sponsorship from you! Thanks!
VROOM, VROOM!
Well, maybe not so much “vroom” anymore, but here at the sanctuary, Hot Rod is feeling a little more giddy in his up! He came to us while his owner was hospitalized. She had owned him for his entire life – 33 years! She had to move to Texas for her health. But with his age and a heart murmur, Hot Rod couldn’t join her. So, he’s living his privileged life at HAV Horse Rescue. While his owner is grateful, we would be super grateful for any sponsors who can put the pedal to the metal and help cover the cost of Hot Rod’s ongoing care!
HERE’S THE SCOOP ON JERRY
It’s been a “rocky road” without Ben
Jerry lost his best friend, Ben, a while back and is just starting to feel like himself again. He loves the company of all his horse mates and the attention he gets from our volunteers. Jerry is a warm and loving guy. In his past life he was a cutting horse. Now, with an injured knee, he is retired and on anti-inflammatory medication to manage his pain. Jerry needs sponsorship to help cover the cost of his meds. So if you’d like to do him a “flavor” he’ll be forever grateful!
Gus
A beautiful Trakehner horse, Gus needed a green pasture, soft land under his feet, and lots of TLC to ride out his senior years. He found it all at HAV Horse Rescue. Gus is bonded to Belle, a mare with a broken foot. The pair is thriving here with us.
WE’RE THE DYNAMIC DUO
Not Batman & Robin
Alexa and Scarlet are a bonded pair that came to us for sanctuary after being surrendered due to their owner’s poor health. Alexa is a Mustang mare and Scarlet the Grade mare acts as her protector. It’s so much fun to watch the way these two sweet and curious ladies interact. They are pretty much a tight pair and don’t ask for much. But they are asking for a sponsor to help them live happily ever after, safe at our sanctuary.
